Gorilla Tracking – One In Lifetime Experience

Planning for a holiday away from the urban environment? Would you like a nature based holiday in Africa. Why not choose a Uganda Safari and go gorilla tracking in Uganda, a one in a lifetime unforgettable experience. The Mountain Gorillas of Uganda attract people from around the world. They are the major reason that Safari Travelers come to Uganda and venture to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla Park.

Apart from gorilla tours in Uganda, you can as well see the rare gentle giants in Parc National des Volcanos in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in Congo. The Gorillas of Uganda have become celebrities when the Uganda Wildlife Authority introduced them to the world via their “Befriend a Gorilla” campaign. While Uganda tour operators venture tourists to all the different national parks with gorillas depending on the tourists’ area of interest.

Unlike Pandas, Orangutans, Chimpanzees, Mountain Gorillas’ cannot be found or visited in a zoo anywhere in the world, you can only find Mountain Gorillas in three countries in Africa, Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

About half of the mountain gorillas in the world can be found in Uganda in two spots – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Presently there are 8 groups that have been habituated and two have just been opened for visitation. (Habituation simply means that the Mountain Gorillas are used to Human Beings, a process that can take up to two years) There are over 30 Mountain Gorilla Groups in Uganda in total -both habituated ones and those who are not. Each Mountain Gorilla group can have a maximum of 8 visitors each day for a period of about one hour. Gorilla Groups vary in size from 6 to up to 30 in number.

Family Vacations – Travel Stressfree With Your Children

Family vacations are among the best adventures you can take! It is fun to travel with the people you like most; your children on a vacation in Europe, America, Australia or even on a safari in Africa! Many travelers don’t like travelling with their children given that it is always faced with a lot of difficulties. However there are important things that you should consider that will make your trip with your children full of fun and exciting!

Trip Planning for A Road Trip

  • Travel Planning : A long road trip with children needs good planning in order to be stress free.
  • Bring along interesting things such as CDs or DVDs.
  • Play stories, music, movies or TV programmes to keep them occupied and away from feeling strapped into a car.
  • For younger children, buy a new toy for the trip. This will make him or her busy while on the trip.
  • Let them work out if they’re ‘there yet’ If your children are old enough, try handing them the map and asking them to work out how far they have to go.
  • Use a family-sized MPV that is  more comfortable for your trip. If yours is not good enough consider hiring one!
  • Sensible seating: You know your kids and their favourite ways of misbehaving or annoying each other. Therefore give them the positions that will not bring irritating behaviour among them.
  • Leave late at night : This sounds difficult but the best! If you have a long way to drive, leave at night and drive while they are asleep. The quietest and most stress-free journey is probably when the children are asleep.
  • Bring plenty of pillows and blankets so they can doze off comfortably for as long as possible
  • Don’t forget a pack a cool box not with your children’s favourite drinks but also some snacks on hand when they’re needed.
  • Take regular stops e.g at a picnic area or lay-by off the road is preferable to a petrol station – every so often and let everyone get out to stretch their legs and let off steam.
  • Play games with your children. This will stay in their memories!

African Safaris – Things to Consider

African Safaris offer a great way to discover Africa! Renowned in the past as “dark continent”, Africa is some what different from what was known about it. It is a “green continent” with amzing and outstanding attractions that include a diverse flora and fauna that you will not easily find elsewhere in the world. Before choosing an African Safari or a particular destination for your holiday, you need to be guided by the following questions;

What is it that you are truly looking for?

Africa has much in terms of adventure activities that you would like to undertake on your vacation? Are you more of an animal freak  or a bird enthusiast? Are you interested in beaches or mountains?

What would the purpose of your holiday be?

To discover Africa’s Mother Nature, relax around the white sandy beaches,
or volunteering or perhaps a combination of all of the above?

You need to be specific and pick your wants! Put them within your notebook, and start planning for your African Safari!

Once you’re clear on what your desires are, you can then choose the right
destination and the right adventure for example if you are interested in gorillas, a Uganda Safari is the perfect adventure for you!

Getting to know your interest is absolutely essential in choosing a perfect adventure or destination for your holiday! Indeed, various locations will have different facilities and distinct things to offer! Some will not necessarily be in a rich wildlife area but might have other advantages like a stunning location, exciting activities, walking trails, etc.
