Rwanda is one of the best gorilla safari destinations in the world, located in East Africa, bordered by countries like Congo in the west, Burundi in the south, Tanzania in the East and Uganda in the North. Rwanda is a small country but endowed with a variety of tourist attractions that attract primates lovers and nature lovers throughout the world. The country is characterized by many majestic hills from which the country derives its name of “Country of thousand Hills”.

Ruanda is a home to the few remaining mountain gorillas located in Volcanoes National Park, also named as Parc National des Volcans. The park is located in Northern part of the country, just 2-3 hours drive from Kigali, the Capital. Rwanda is not only a home to gorillas but also 13 primate species. This is recorded to be highest concentration in East and Central Africa. These are found in Nyungwe Forest, the largest Mountaineous forest in East and Central Africa. It is located in south western part of the country, 5hours drive from Kigali, the capital. Nyungwe forest is famous for large Chimpanzee communities and Big Troops of Black and white colobus monkeys, ranging between 400-500 individuals. Among other primates include Red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, golden monkeys, Mangabeys and many bird species ranging up to 288 species. Nyungwe Forest is now becoming popular for Canopy Walk with different trails at different altitudes. Also forest walks to waterfalls, village walks, birding and many other tour activities.
Rwanda is also blessed with a variety of wildlife found in Akagera National Park. This is located in the Eastern part of the country near Tanzania boarder, 3 hours drive from Kigali the capital. On your game drive through Akagera wildlife Park, expect an encounter with animals such as Elephants, Buffaloes, Zebras and other antelopes, Hippos, crocodiles and 450 bird species seen along the boat ride on Lake Ihema.
During your Rwanda vacation, also visit a number of genocide memorial museums all over the country. These include Gisozi genocide memorial center in Kigali, Nyamata genocide memorial site, Murambi, Nyamata and Ntarama genocide memorial centers among others.
